Finding the Perfect Fit: An Avanceon Employee Success Story

After college, I got a mediocre job working in Customer Care for an energy company. I used that job to gain customer service and sales experience and to build my resume, but certainly did not plan to stay forever. Before I knew it, however, one year turned to two and two to four. I found myself in a slump. Stuck in an uninteresting job and at a salary standstill, I decided it was time for me to further my career somewhere else.

Around the same time I started applying for jobs, an old friend of mine reached out  to tell me about her new job working for Avanceon.  She told me how outgoing her coworkers were and about their “work hard, play hard” office culture. She told me about the company’s commitment to growing their employees- both professionally and personally. She mentioned their Holiday celebrations, Ping-Pong tournaments, and Friday socials, which include a fully stocked beer fridge AND a keg filled with Victory for all the IPA lovers. Yes, you heard me correctly, a KEG. I don’t know about you, but that certainly caught my attention. Oh, and did you know that unlimited PTO is a new trend in the working world? Well it is, and Avanceon offers it to all of their employees. At this point, she had my full attention and I was eager to learn more.

I quickly sent her my resume, which she  then forwarded to the company recruiter. A few days later, I received a call. I had passed the first hurdle- they wanted to schedule an interview with me.  Interviewing for a new job- especially one you really want- is always nerve-wracking. I did everything I could to prepare. I researched the job, the company and prepared questions. As I progressed through the interview process, I developed an appreciation for the time and care that Avanceon put into getting to know me. It became clear that they were interested not only in my skill set, but in making sure that I’d fit in with the company culture. By the end of the process, I was confident that I would be a good fit for Avanceon and equally as important- that Avanceon was the right company for me. Within a few days, I received and accepted a great offer. It’s been several months and I haven’t looked back. Working in a comfortable environment that supports and promotes growth, collaboration and work-life balance has made me realize that there’s a lot more to consider than just the job position when looking for a new opportunity. It’s important to evaluate what’s important to you and to see how that fits into the company you’re interested in joining. The more comfortable you are in your environment, the faster you’ll succeed.
